Elderberry Syrup

2 ½ cups dried elderberries

5 cups water

3 tsp dried ginger

3 cinnamon sticks

Bring the mixture to a boil and then lower heat and simmer 30 minutes. Remove syrup from heat and allow to cool for another 30 minutes. Strain out cinnamon sticks and elderberries. 

Add:

1 to 1 ½ cups honey

1 to 1 ½ cups brandy 

Store syrup in jars in the refrigerator. Here are some health benefits of elderberry syrup.

Serving suggestions: a couple tablespoons in sparkling water with a slice of lemon
